LSU football player Malik Nabers was taken into custody on Monday evening in New Orleans for carrying an illegal weapon, according to records from the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The New Orleans Police detained the 19-year-old Nabers at around 7:30 p.m. on Bourbon and Conti Streets in the city, which was in the midst of its annual Mardi Gras festivities.
On Tuesday afternoon at 3 p.m., Nabers was scheduled to appear before a magistrate judge in New Orleans to determine his bond. As of the latest report, there has been no update on his court proceedings.
LSU athletic officials have reportedly been informed of Nabers’ arrest but have declined to comment at this time.
In the state of Louisiana, carrying an illegal weapon is classified as a misdemeanor, with a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $500 fine.
During the previous season, Nabers was the Tigers’ leading receiver, with 72 catches for 1,017 yards and three touchdowns.
